Back Up Camera Help.
The one thing that i regret about my 2012 big horn is that it doesn't have the back up camera. I was just wondering if it was possible to get installed at the dealer and how difficult or expensive it would be?

I believe the 2009 - 2012 camera kit is the same

BUT that depends on the radio that you have
if in the bottom right corner it reads RES it does not have a touch screen & any back up camera will have to be in the mirror or on a separate monitor

The touch screen radios REN, RBZ, RHB, RHR, & RER have stock cameras that display on your radio screens

another thing to think about is that possibly the fancy JEEP cameras, may have some extra cool options
but the radio needs to have a speed BUS in the 2009 - 2012 Rams
some Jeeps may have the High Speed BUS

Mopar camera kit is around $250 on Amazon or eBay. Surely more at the dealer. Plus installation which is lenghty and a slight PITA. I'm thinking at least $500. If you have the touch screen radio.

You can buy a Lockpick for $200, a nice camera for $60, 25ft of red/black 18g wire, 25ft RCA video cable, 1/2" wire loom and do it yourself.

Also, if you do it yourself, you might as well spend another $100 and get the remote locking tailgate since you will be running the wires anyway. Just a thought. That's what I did.

Yes but as GT Yankee indicated, a lot depends on the radio you have. I had one installed by the dealer a month after purchasing the truck it cost me $585.00 out the door as I recall, which included a discount for having purchased the truck from them. Also reflects the fact I have the appropriate radio (sorry forget the model designation).

DIY fot about $300. Not really any tools needed besides screw drivers.

I bought a LCD screen and a reverse camera from Deal Extreme for about $60. It took a bit of time to get it but it was pretty cheap.
I am thinking about moving the screen to above the rearview mirror to make it a bit easier to look at.

If you do have the RES radio, non touch screen
the camera can still go into the tailgate handle
this is the way it can be done

fancy type
terrible hook up, must be a Ferd

I hear you, that's the one thing I regretted as well. I installed a rear view mirror backup camera and I love it. It makes backing up soo much easier.
