What to do next with my hemi?

I have a 2003 dodge 1500 4x4 with the hemi. I bought the truck from an old man that never used it but for hauling a boat so it has low miles. Since I bought it I have added a set of long tube mopar headers into straight pipe exhaust out the back(sounds awesome),a cold air intake, throttle body spacer, and super chips programer. It runs good but I am wanting a little more out of it. Does anyone have any input on what I should add next? I don't really want to spend the money on a supercharger but would like some input. Thanks

install a 180 tstat, e-fan, might want to do a straight thru muffler and get some low end performance back... after this then the modding get's a little more expensive (cam, heads, stall tq verter, gears...)

What will a 180 thermostat do? And I don't really want to break into my motor untill I have to. I don't want to do gears either because I want to keep my gas mileage as much as possible.

a cooler running motor is a stronger running motor....you'll notice in the winter time the hemi run's stronger as oppose to the heat of summer...plus, it's also for security sake and an important component as you mod up (helps prevent knocking/detonation)

It's a trade off, you want more performance your mileage goes down. Your tuning options are a bit limited (sucks for us 03's). Pull the spacer first. Throw it away. Use it on your desk. If you don't want to get into the engine or change gears, then biggest bang for buck is probably nitrous.

this is what the spacer is good for...

180 stat helps prevent knocking?

chefred112 06-06-2013 07:25 PM

knocking is a form of lean condition or low octane fuel...to offset it, you try to add more fuel, a colder motor uses more fuel. I've never complained of knocking since I started using a colder tstat...and as modded as I am that is one thing I don't need or want to worry about..
