2013 Ram 1500 Bug Shield/Deflector Install Issues

Just bought an AVS Chrome Deflector for my truck. I dry fit it to the hood, and it doesn't close. Did you guys remove the weatherstripping seal at the front edge of the hood to install yours? Seems like it might be the solution, but what's the negative effects of removing it? Appreciate any help you guys can provide.

I would not recommend removing the weatherstripping. I can see how "unsealing" the hood would be bad. There are several guys who have had these that may chime in.

Also you may want to post over the exterior mods section and get more help.

I have the abs and at first it did not close, then my wife said it a truck slam the hood down, I did and it closed. Opened it the other day and did not have any trouble closing it. I did not remove the weather stripping

Thanks for the info. Other people are saying they removed it, and have no issues. Not sure what to do now. Needing to slam the hood concerns me a little...leads me to believe there's too much interference between the Deflector and the truck. Does the seal serve any purpose on top of the Deflector? There would still be a gap between the truck and Deflector, and water isn't likely to leak behind the Deflector.

The AVS bug deflector was one of my first mods. It went on easy enough but I found I had to slam the hood to get it to close but now it seems to close just fine.
