Just installed Pioneer X5500BHS in my 2012 Express (LOTS of Pics)

It all started because backed into a concrete pylon that was short (below the tailgate) and out of my rear view mirror line of site. So I said to my self I will not repair or replace the bumper until i can get a back up camera installed.

Then it began..a new mirror cam? a factory touchscreen head unit? or a new aftermarket system.

I went the the aftermarket.

I also painted the a/c bezel on both sides in black and the entire center bezel black...(Flat Black).

parking brake bypass order and installed.

I reviewed many different post on this site for remove and other advise..so thank you all for that.

The pioneer has rear USB which is capable of charging your iphone and a rear aux input. I found this plug thing on ebay, which allowed me to install in the dash both inputs rather than leave the cable ends in the glove box or something.

I also ran into reception issues on both AM and FM. The adapters are notoriously horrible so i hacked the factory antenna and made a straight motorola plug and the reception issues were solved.

The camera is not yet installed as it did not come in on time (ebay!!!!). Also, coming is a single 10" sub and amp under the rear passenger side.

Here are some pics.

Looks really good! Great write up with lots of pics! :rep:

I actually really like the full flat black center bezel. I might have to look into doing that on mine now. I just installed a Kenwood DNX690HD a couple weeks ago so I had a fairly similar install as you. I'm also running a single 10" under the rear passenger seat.

What rear view camera did you order? I plan on ordering one for mine pretty quick but want to make sure I get the right one that's going to install nice and work properly.

a universal camera from ebay.. i will post pic and link when i get it.

Can you tell me more about your sub....which box? any pics?

I don't have any pics at the moment. I'll try to get a few for you later (if I remember... lol).

It's a 10" Exile shallow mount sub in a shallow mount box. I've had it for years, used to run it behind the seat in my regular cab S10. So when I got the Ram I figured I might as well throw it in there for some better sound. It's not exactly the ideal set up... I definitely plan on changing it out for a JL Stealthbox down the road. It is essentially just laying down under the passenger side seat on top of the storage area. I did have to space the seat up 3/4" in order to make it fit. Kind of hard to explain how it's installed.... I'll post some pics here as soon as I can.
