Plasti dip factory 20s

Thinking of plasti dipping my alloy 20s black, any feedback or pics?

I plasti dipped my wheels a few months ago. Used about 3 or 4 cans. Looked really good, but i eventually got tired of it and peeled it off. Had it on there for over a month and no issues at all. Here is the thread I did on them. http://ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=139611

I did mine about 2 months ago. Have had to touch them up hear and there, but over all, the plati dip has been very durable. Gave my truck a whole new look.

Hi, planning on the same .. going to see if I can do the Silver Metalizer Enhancer on GunMetal Gray ... I've seen the Silver on Black .. looks great ..

For those that have done it .. what process did you use to make it easy for cleanup around the rubber tire ? did you just use masking tape ? after what #spray coat did you remove the tape ?

What prep process did you use to prepare the surface of the rim ?

I plan to do mine while the rim/tire is still on the truck.

I'll post photos when I do it.

What prep process did you use to prepare the surface of the rim ? I used dawn to wash the wheels thoroughly, then I used electrical contact cleaner, sprayed the surface and let dry.

I plan to do mine while the rim/tire is still on the truck. That's how I did it. I did jack the truck up and took the lug nuts off 1) so I could get all the way in to the lug well and not get the lug and 2) so I could rotate the tire for 360 degree coverage.

I'll post photos when I do it.

Looking forward for them. Have fun! You won't regret it.

Mine has been on for about a month with no issues.
Process: cleaned wheels with window cleaner, did about 4 or 5 coats per wheel, no tape and didn't even peel excess off tires. I also did the inside of wheels.

I did mine about three months ago and they looked great at the time (black 1500 crew cab sport). Now, it is starting to separate between the wheel and tire. Touching up those areas just made it look worse. I'm tempted to remove it and try it again though. I love the black on black look but I didn't want to drop the money on new wheels just yet.

To echo what nfd538 said, do really light coats at first. It will look like a slight haze for the first few coats. Just keep repeating it and it will work just fine. I took a garbage back, cut it in half to open it up as a single layer, and inserted it into slots in the wheel to wrap up the brakes. That way, the plastidip stayed on the outside without hitting the brakes.
