Rough start up idle/white smoke
I've read this is a common problem but no one has a simple answer on what to fix.
Mine starts everytime no problem and after it warns up it idles perfectly and runs great!
When I hit a red light sometimes it starts white smoking. Sometimes a lot, sometimes hardly any and it doesn't always do it. Just smokes randomly when it wants.
Anyone point me in the right direction? It runs fine even as it smokes
I'm not real familiar with this year but the title caught my attention.
That is the ONLY reason I'm checking it out. However...I would check any vacuum lines leading from the transmission to the intake for any transmission fluid.
I had issues on older vehicles that had a modulator valve and occasionally when leaving a toll booth or traffic light... POOF a big puff of white smoke, and then it'd go away and maybe not do it for awhile.
The only other thing that I know of that'd produce white smoke is coolant.
I really don't know but I'm leaning towards transmission fluid. I really would like to know if I'm close. Maybe one of the members can help as to whether or not there is such a vacuum line on your year.
(edit) I use transmission fluid to fog my engines for storage. It lubricates and coats the inside. When I fog it (i.e. white smoke referred to as fog) it smokes white. just thought I'd add that.
From what ive read it can be
-dealer reflash ECM update because of recall
Just wondering if anyone had this and fixed theirs and what it was. The truck runs great but the smoke is embarrassing .
Here is a cold start
(I said no smoke but it give a lil puff I didn't see)
Here it is warm
And here is some smoke.
It's in a diesel performance shop. turns out the Injector for cyl #3 was hanging up. He also said he wasnt sure but a nozzle on another might be messed up. So I told him to go ahead and overnight 2 injectors. Because I need my truck back monday. It will come with a $1000 bill and I still owe about 7k on the truck, ouch!
