oil ??`

Ok, not knowingly I have never ran synthetic oil. So does the 1500 come from the factory with Synthetic or regular. What are the biggest benefits of Synthetic? Does this extend the time between changes? And (IF) I get a diesel (my first ever) does this come with different oil requirements?

You guys have been a wealth of knowledge and I am almost certain I will be driving a 2014 early next year.

I have one of the best wives on earth, we are heading to Phoenix this weekend for a small get-away and She offered to go to a Ram dealer and get this Test Drive a 1500 I hope they happen to have a Laramie Longhorn with the Air ride. But it will be fun either way. Top that off with a stop at Bass Pro Shop and then we are off to Wildhorse Casino to watch Rage in the cage (think UFC Minor Leagues)... What a great weekend.

I believe the truck comes from the factory with Dino oil.

As far as your other oil questions this topic is a very frequent one already. Check out the Ramforumz Oil Change Section. That area will probably answer your questions.

Agreed.

There are countless threads on this very topic that should answer all of your questions.... and some more.

Good luck.

Dino in all but don't know about the 2014, probably Dino.

+1 on the countless threads, best you check those out than repeat what has been said and over said.

i use syn. started using syn , mobil1 in the early eighties when it was a very big step up. dino has improved greatly and you can't go wrong with either. in case you care, i use penzoil ultra and an overpriced quality filter. oci every 7 thousand miles.

You know as many times as I have been reminded about the search feature you would think it would have found a place to stick on one of my two brain cells. I apologize for not using Search to my advantage. (ok that and I am trying to pad my post count so I can pm people) :)

Well, Mobil 1 is recommended by Porsche, and it's cheap, so that's what I use. I'm actually a little surprised that Ram isn't doing factory fill synthetic, since I know Ford and most of the others are at least using a synthetic blend.

switched

I switched from Dino to Synth oil a year ago and change it every 5,000 km. I have noticed a difference in the oils "cleanliness", not almost black as when I used the non synth, now it looks almost as clean as when I pour it in.
