Fox body kill

coming home from work yesterday, traffic's heavy so I take my backroad route to go home... I was coming to a stop sign and I see a chevy pickup doggin my rear so when I left, I left hard and got up to 110+ (back country straight road), up ahead about a 1/4 mile I see a nice looking foxbody that I was coasting towards...well, he thought I was doggin him so he takes off, bein it's friday and I happen to be driving the truck today (usually use a commuter car), I decide to let the truck stretch it's legs...I took off after him and got to 100+ and reeled him in..after that we drove pretty normal until we made a right turn onto a 3 lane street. I was behind him so as he turned he just drove normal and I think he wanted me to pull to the next lane...I obliged and as I slowly rolled next to him he nods at me and simultaneously he lays into it..I get on it at the same time and immediately pulled past him to about 4 car lengths before we get to next light...as he's pullin up he's shakin his head and says "Damn! that trucks quick! you have an LS1 in it?"...I about rolled over laffin and just said "naw, it's gotta hemi"... he say's " you've done work on yours because I usually take hemi rams"... I nooded and said "yes, a little modded:) " , light turned green and he say's "see you around town bro" and we drove off.. this was a good friday :)

Nice, even at 220hp, those old 'stangs aren't an easy kill, my convertible weighed 3100 wet. An '87 LX hatchback weighs in at 2700 dry.

Tsk tsk, Fred. Unless he was seriously modded that wasn't even a fair fight!
Thanks for sharin'!

Nice kill. It must be fast if you only beat him by four lengths so I think it was fair. Though I am curious why he asked if you had an LS1 in your truck. Was he being sarcastic or could he know of any with LS1's. There is an older Dodge truck on another forum with a LS1 but I forgot his name. If I'm remembering right he runs in the low 12's. But it is the only one I've heard of. Anyway good street kill...so use to your track kills.

he asked because he just didn't know any better... I'm debadged so you would have to know your trucks in order to figure out what I had... I know the ls1 older ram your talking about..and he is still slower than me :)

O Fred, when will they learn.......

chefred112 06-23-2013 12:02 PM

hehe..that's one reason I like to have the biggest muffler out there...it sounds really quiet at idle and pretty much only the discerning auto enthusiast will recognize the lope... happenned again last night takin family out to dinner, just driving the flow of traffic, I see a Ford Expedition come weaving thru traffic and he ends up behind me. We approach a red light and I'm the front car, the lane next to me is open and he immediately pulls into it to line up next to me, he had a loud muffler as I could hear his over mine even when he was behind me. I guess some feel that the loudness of the muffler gives them that false sense of power :) , so I drop the B&M shifter to 1st and wait for the green...about 25 yards past the light is the freeway overpass (you'll see why I mentioned this in a sec..hehe)...so the light turns green and I wait for the Ford to leave before I get on it...so, he leaves hard and I leave hard a moment later and fly by him, and just as I fly by we get under the overpass...well, I open the cutouts and the reverberations under the overpass feel like you're at a nascar event..my 5 year old in the backseat screams (she loves it when i open the cutouts).. I let off after the overpass an coasted to the next light...the Ford drives up and the guy is giving me a thumbs up with that "Holy Sh!t" look on his face... that made my evening :)
