New Ram Sport + Mopar Family (Pic heavy)

Well, it arrived. I ordered April 18th after many failed attempts (order banks not open, 8 speed restriction, etc.). I called 8 dealers and said "let me know when the truck I want is available to order" and only ONE called me back - the same salesman who sold me my car. I have been researching since last October and am glad I wound up with the Ram. Closest competitor was the F150 FX4 but I am very pleased with my decision - in fact, all of my Ford friends were pleasantly surprised with the quality of this truck! Already installed my Bakflip Fibermax and WeatherTech floor mats, and de-badged it.
CC, 6'4 box, 3.92s (yes, I checked!) - essentially loaded minus the sunroof, air suspension, and accessories like side steps/mud guards/etc. I detail vehicles on the side and I will say that this paint is flawless. I looked it over before bringing it home. One small imperfection (they cleared over some little bit of dust) on the hood, but other than that I am very, very pleased.

Here are some pictures:

I upgraded from this 2000 5.9L. Great truck minus the front end and transmission. 147,000 miles strong.

I should mention that the instructions for the Fibermax were absolutely disgusting. For the price you pay they should send you a DVD or have a better set of paper instructions/online video. I realize that it is a brand new product. I shut my iPad down, threw out the paper instructions, put the first set of clips in the rails and laid the cover up against the front of the cab and started flipping it back one section at a time, lining up/installing the additional clips as I went. It works - it locks/unlocks and sits perfectly - but, either the prop rods are too short or I installed that set of clips about 6-8" in the wrong spot (??) - there is no way those rods are long enough to hold the folded up cover against the rear window in their current location. Also couldn't get the bolt that comes with the prop rod holder to fit through the cargo management rail without having to drill the factory piece larger or use a smaller bolt.

What's the project this afternoon? Remove the pillar tape???

That is a damn nice looking truck! I would love to sink my hands in to that 70 D100. Would love to see what you have planned for that. Thanks for the pics (reps coming your way) and keep them coming!

Thanks!

As you likely know, there are limited places to find parts for those trucks - I like that, though. Something about going to scrap yards hunting down parts or fabricating my own is far more appealing than logging onto LMC and buying a complete truck with a few clicks.

The plan is to tear it right down to the frame this winter and build the drivetrain and suspension, as time/budget permit. I'll start a build thread once I get going:smileup:

That is one sweet looking truck, and the other toys are just as sweet.

Damn nice looking truck. I wish I could have waited for the '13 but the wife wanted a new one ASAP and I could not say no to the price.
