Oil Change Indicator came back quickly

I have been changing my oil in my Dodge with 5W-20 Penzzoil Platinum, I changed it at 500 miles, again at 3000 miles, then I slowly crept up to the point where I would change it when the truck told me to. Which at the last point was at around 19000-20000 miles. I am now at about 23000 miles, and the oil change indicator just came on. after only about 3-4000 miles. My last interval went about 7-8000 before it wanted a change.

Is it odd for my truck to fluctuate like this? Is it reading a problem and saying I should change the oil?

I would just reset the oil change message. As I recall Penzoil Platinum is full synthetic, so you ought to get 6-10,000 miles out of it, so use your own good judgement when to change. Supposedly the indicator comes on not by time or mileage but rather, oil condition, but I question how accurate that may be.

It, the ECU, monitors things like how many times it was started. Started when cold/hot. Driven short distance/time. How hot it got, pulling trailer etc. Easy driving, hard driving etc. It takes all info and determines when to set change oil light.
