22.2 MPG on 87 Octane

Just recently went on a highway trip with my 12' rcsb 4.7L. I recently bought it so I was pretty interested on what mpg I could get compared to the sticker numbers (14/20). After driving averaging about 65 mph, I got 22.2 mpg and was hand calculated. Im pretty happy with it compared to the sticker numbers thanks to a few changes such as a k & n air filter and maxing out my tire pressure. These numbers were from 20% city/ 80% highway!

Here is a vid I did to help those who are in need of some tips. I hope to soon reach my goal of 25 mpg in the near future.

Sweet I am getting about 16.8 out of my QC going to and from work %100 state road at 75 mph

That's excellent! Keep your foot out of it and you can expect that kind of mileage consistently.

Was it purchased new or used?

define "maxing" tire pressure. blow-outs suck. so does improper tire wear from overpressure.

My truck currently has the Goodyear wranglers sr-a's which have a max pressure of 44 psi. They are sitting fine with that pressure as well. Doesn't look to be over-inflated. Im also located here in Texas where we have reached 100 degrees already.

You are playing with fire running those tires at such a high PSI.....

my wife's '12 SLT QC with the 4.7 2wd gets around 25 if she drives 60 on the highway, 22-23 if driving 70.

my '12 Outdoorsman CC with Hemi 4wd and about 800# in the bed will get about 17 when driving 70-75. IF i use 87 oct pure gas i get closer to 20!

On a side note my wife tested a couple tanks of E-85 since hers is FF and her mileage dropped to 18 at best! We figured it up and E-85 would have to be nearly .90 cheaper a gallon to make it worth getting.

I hope mine gets there when she is broke in.
