Clear plasti dip?

I just learned that there is clear plastidip. Does anyone have any experience with this? I saw it on you tube on someone's car and it looks like it was pretty clear but took the shine away from the paint. I was thinking about using it on my chrome trim around my center console to take the sun glare away but keep the chrome look. I want to know more about it though. Will it look dumb? Should I just go with black?

If you live in the states its only like $6 at your hardware store. Try it out. Post some pictures. Worst case....your out $6.

I have used the clear dip several times. It makes paint a matte color so I'm sure it would be likely to just leave the chrome looking like flat aluminum. If that's the look you want try it. I did my chrome ring plasti-dip matte black and it looks great.

I bought black and have put my second coat on the trim ring now. It makes me nervous because I am no good with anything related to painting. It's really humid here but hopefully it will still come out good. I also hope I can peel the stuff off the clips on the back because I forgot to tape them. Also, I'm trying to get it done while my daughter naps which is why I'm only waiting 20 minutes between Coates instead of 30. I saw YouTube videos and most people say they only wait 10-15 minutes and theirs turn out nice.

If I'm doing it in the sun I only wait 5-10 minutes between coats on everything I plasti-dip and it turns out great. I've done the rims on my Caliber R/T and Ram 1500 and my mom/dads Wrangler and my friends Liberty.

Same routine every time and they all still look great and have held up awesome. I had NO IDEA what I was doing when I first did my rims but plasti-dip isn't like regular spray paint. Plasti-Dip is a lot more forgiving in terms of messing up. If you mess up just do another coat and it basically hides it.

Love that stuff
