And now a word from your winner.....

Wow, well I have to say, this is not one victory lap I ever thought I would take and so many people to thank! First, GT, without whom we would not have this awesome site to hang out on, his behind the scenes efforts make all of this possible! BlueJet and her tireless dedication has made her a cornerstone of this forum as well, thank you! Brad, Shawn and Shane and all the rest of the staff here who put so much time in helping keep things here running smoothly and making all of our new members comfortable, you are appreciated! gonefishin776 for his MOTM discussion thread, which brought to light the fact that this contest had gotten so far away from what it was intended to be and for so long, helped pave the way for people like me to have this rather unique honor. Warlock III who, with his usual humor, sent me on what I would call a beeline to the front of the class when I usually tend to prefer sitting in the back, so I sure hope I pass lol!. To EVERYONE who stepped aside and declined their nominations on my behalf and those who voted for me, I am truly humbled by the awesome show of support you all have shown me! What you have really shown everyone is integrity and, in the process, demonstrated what happens when people show some selflessness, it makes things that otherwise wouldn't have been possible a reality. It is that kind of character that makes everyone a winner and, for that, all of you I consider more worthy of this than myself.

A little about me, for those that don't know, my name is Dana. I'm 37 and live in beautiful Cajun country south Louisiana, been home now for 12 years. I was an Army brat so moved around a bit, but the people, the culture and the food here, well, you just can't beat it! The past 11 years, I worked in the oilfield in some capacity or other, offshore and onshore. It was great work that I did enjoy but just wasn't what I was looking for so, last year, I made a career change and got back into a job I don't dread going to everyday. Now, I have regained my sanity and I am a Parts Sales Manager for the parts store everyone either loves, hates or loves to hate lol, Autozone, and couldn't be happier, made my first year this past April. Every day is a challenge as every customer and vehicle/problem is different so it's never the same day twice, I get to keep up with the latest technology and hopefully in the fall I will get my ASE certification and can really be a contributing member to the industry I have a passion for.

My truck is a 2008 RAM 1500 ST reg cab short bed 2WD V6 which I bought brand new in March of 2008 with 9 miles on the clock. She now has just over 48K and every mile has been a smile! This was my first ever brand new vehicle purchase on my own so I played it smart but, after getting out of a fully loaded Jeep, it was time, in many respects in my life, for me to get back to basics. I'm not big on chrome so that worked for me and I just don't need all the fancy stuff. My 1981 D150 was my project truck which I did do a lot of work to, even some engine mods, and it got me hooked on Mopar. I missed having a truck so getting another RAM was just the natural choice and I bought what I needed and got everything I wanted, a well built and fully capable truck for what I use it for. She's stock (which may change soon) and, no, to most, she's not the biggest, loudest or even fastest, but, at the end of the day, what I do drive is MY truck lol. I do enjoy seeing what all of you do with your rides, there are some seriously sweet trucks on here!

I found Ram Z one night at work, almost a year after buying my truck. I was looking to see what there was out there for RAM owners and enthusiasts and keep me occupied while working all those crazy nights. Checked out a few sites, lurked on this one for a couple weeks and the people and conversation here seriously, always kept me laughing and coming back so I decided why not just join up and be part of the fun?! Who would have thought that 4 1/2 years later, this is where I would be, addicted to this place just like all of you! I enjoy the people here, this is an awesome community of folks who love their trucks as much as I do, like a good laugh and, most importantly, are so willing to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences with everyone, such a great benefit of being in the company of the membership we have here and that is something NO other site has!

Thank you all so very much again and if I have to go down in history as being the first at a one person contest, I sure am glad it was this one, that really means a lot to me!

Congrats Cajun Dodge for a well deserved win and for all your help.

Congratulations on a well deserved win, this is by far the best example of Member of the month. Yes your truck is great but the driver greater. Again, congratulations on a very well deserved win. The Orange Badge has a great new member.

Well that's pretty cool! Congratulations to you.

Warlock III 06-30-2013 11:03 AM

Well congratulations on a very well deserved win. You are truly the definition of "Member" of the month with your selfless dedication to the site, the members, and the thing we all share in common that unite us, Our trucks.

Your story is one that emulates the different backgrounds our members have and the joy we share in owning something we all share in common.

It's funny though, the only thing I can think of in closing my response is something my step-father used to say back in the '70's, and I think it's very apropos. And I quote:

"I ain't big, and I ain't bad...but when the big and the bad get together. They call me boss."

He never mentioned he had our trucks in mind.
