Plasti dip
Has anyone seen what plasti dip smoke looks like next to a mineral gray color? I am debating plasti dipping my tail lights and think it might match well but am unsure. I may just buy it since that stuff just peals off. Anyone have any ideas?

I have only seen it on a YouTube video but I'd guess its a little lighter than mineral gray. From what I remember (I've watched a lot of videos on plasti dip lately) it looks more like the platinum trim colors found on some 2 tone trucks and some interiors.

I have had a terrible experience with Plasti-dipp smoked. I don't know what it was seeing half of my truck is plasti-dipped black. Every attempt I tried at it (grill, emblems, bumpers several times) It always came out with a odd blotchy look to it and difficulty removing it. For some reason I feel like it is actually meant for tail lights to offer a smoked look. I have tons of experience with spray cans proper cleaning/ prep/ spray paterns before hand. Smoked I could never get to appear nice. Black.. worked great on killing off my chrome.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have plasti dipped my tail lights on my Caliber R/T with regular black plasti dip with 3 REALLY THIN COATS. It's street legal, in my state (Virginia) you have to be able to clearly see the lights/blinkers from 500 feet. It takes practice to do it right. I've also plasti dipped my rims, grill, emblems, and my radio bezel on the interior.

The pictures do not do justice. In person it looks great, no blotches, streaks, soft spots.

I'm starting on my Ram now.

Josh, thanks for the great pic and description. I purchased plasti dip smoke and was mildly happy with my efforts thus far. I put 5 coats on the tail lights and they looked darker but not dark enough. It did take away that glossy look but I really am going for more of a silverish tint to match my mineral gray truck. Today I pulled the third brake light and just finished putting on my 10th coat. I think that is going to be the magic number I just need to see how much of the brake lights it blocks before putting more coats on the tail lights. When I am all said and done I will post pics and a quick how to.
