Engine swap

Can I swap out my 1996 5.9 with a 1994 V-10 8.0 if I use the computer box from the 1994 truck? if not what else would I have to do.
Thanks Ed.:wavey:

'94 box won't run a '96 truck. V10 transmission will not bolt to V8's because of a different bellhousing. 2 more cylinders mean 2 more wires for ignition so you'd need to add them, easier to get the V10 harness. Probably need heavier V10/diesel front end springs for a truck (all iron V10 - as opposed to aluminum-head Viper V10). Probably some other things, but that should be enough to discourage the swap.

Why Not ? just remember if you have to smog it , it has to have everything that year chassis is suppose to have with that engine in it. If you can, take everything from the donor truck. harness , ECU, springs, mounts, tranny, ect, Yea it's a lot of work but do you have more time or more money ? we did engine swaps all the time not too long ago for the same reason your talking about it, eventually I'm putting a Big Block in our 2001 Ram

Anything is possible, but '94 is OBDI, '96 is OBDII and that is a whole other mess. Good with wiring and splicing?
