3m tape for behind mud flaps
I am having the hardest time with what should be so simple. I can not find any plain clear 3m tape that people talk about all the time. My mud guards have been on my new truck for a week now and I haven't seen any scratching yet but I want to put tape behind them anyway. Can some help me out? A model number or a link or something to what others are using. I have only seem clear duct tape so far.

I've used this it's great. I want to add it behind my mud spats as well(have been wanting to for about 2 years lol). I have minor paint blemishes from the mud spats....need to rub it with some compound to get rid of the marks then apply this.

Order this stuff ASAP because it will wear down your paint.

That looks good but don't I only need to cover the 1" or so of painted surface that the flaps come in contact with? I've been looking for maybe 2" wide tape for the 4 corners. The rest of the area that the flaps are mounted to is black plastic.

Maybe that's why I've been having such a hard time finding the right tape...

Good stuff. I'm going to order now. If I don't need that wide, I'll simply trim it to the width that I want. Thanks!

any stores to buy this tape at locally?

I have up my hunt and just bought the 3m door edge guards for $10 at Walmart. The strips are .5" wide but it comes with 2 long strips so it will be plenty to cover the foot of painted surface being rubbed on by my flaps. I may end up buying 2 more packs and actually use them for my door edges like they are designed for. Lol

Just need to clean the areas and put the tape on when my daughter naps.

Ok, what a pain in the ass that ended up being. The pack of edge guards only covered the fronts and its impossible to cut or tear without stretching it and it rolling up on you. It's not pretty but there is tape behind the front flaps now. The drivers side gave me issues because for some reason the top screw would not come out. It would just spin. I had to mess up the top hole in the mud flap to get it off. I found 2 nicks in the paint that I probably did while struggling to remove that screw. I covered the nicks with tape after cleaning them and they are behind the mudflap so it should be good to go. Ill have to buy more tape for the back.

Yeah I bought that xpel kit over a year ago and just cut it to fit. It cuts very easy with a razor and a straight edge. I've used it on a few spots on my buell where cables/etc rub the powder coat. Also used it at the tailgate handle. Next I will add it behind the mud spats. Slight heat from hair dryer makes it conform nicely.

is it possible to put a little bed liner behind the flaps?
