2013 or 2014

I am looking into buying either a 2013 Ram Sport Quad Cab or 2014 Ram Diesel. I have been reading many post on this forum and others. It appears there are many problems with the 2013 Ram 1500. Please let me know if you feel the 2013 has a lot of problems and I should wait on the 2014 hoping some of the issues have been worked out. The main issues I have seen is with the air suspension and 8.4 radio. Thanks in advance for your responses.

i have a 2011 which so far has been flawless. i have heard of some radio problems, dealer removes and replace them for a fix. don't recall reading about too many problems with the air suspension on the ram, and only a few on the grand cherokee.

Have a 2013 Laramie but only 200 miles so far and no problems. Don't forget Ram builds about 29,000 trucks per month, so how many problems do you see on this web site vs trucks built. Also how many problems are driver error not truck problems. So if you choose 13 or 14 you will enjoy either.Take one for a drive.

No problems with either air suspension nor 8.4an radio on my 2013 with almost 2000 miles on it. Keep in mind, the 2014 will have the same radio & optional air suspension as the 2013 so any corrected problems will apply to the 2013. If they aren't fixed by launch then nothing gained. You would still have to take the 2014 in for repair if it's broke. I believe you can get a better price on the 2013 if you can find one equipped on a lot like you want. If not, only then would I consider a 2014.

I'm gonna wait for the 2014. That diesel 1500 has me curious. Also I'm praying that the 014 models come without that stupid dial shift knob (what a horrible idea).

The rotary shift knob if anything will be more pervasive.

Any thing better or updated that will come out in the 2014 model, except the 3.0 turbo diesel & possibly the front parking sensors, should be applied to the 2013 model as a update

Hopefully they will have figured out what is causing the draining batteries & rising air suspension while the vehicle is parked for extended periods, like over night
I believe that it all comes down to the new Powernet Electronic Architecture & the 8.4 radios that never really shut down, even though the the touch screen goes blank, the radio goes into Standby mode, waiting on a wireless signal. The signal may be coming from Chrysler as a update or from the Owner as a Start Up or Door Unlock wireless signal

I am sure that several of you have experienced your Cell phone battery draining in a fairly short period of time, at times when you have traveled to a place that is a Dead Zone. The cell phone is constantly searching for a signal in any dead zone, if you have not learned to turn the phone off at times that you are in those dead zones

I think a lot of the pissy little issues of the 2013 models will be ironed out on the 2014 models.

I hope so.....

For me the decision to obtain a 2013 vs a 2014 was all about money, specifically rebates and incentives. I doubt there will be great deals on early 2014 RAM trucks
