Just waxed

I have not waxed a vehicle in years but decided to go for it today on my 2013 crew cab. I wanted to wait so it wasn't so hot but I waited a little to long because I was outside with a flashlight making sure I didn't leave any wax on. I was rushing and I guess I didn't get all the bugs off and I waxed over a few. I'm hoping I can use the spray detailer tomorrow to get the bugs off tomorrow. I used turtle wax ice liquid wax after washing with the ice soap as well. I'm not sure how good I did since it was dark out when I finished. The bottle says its okay to get it on the plastic and rubber pieces which was my deciding factor between it and the meguires.

I waxed everything except the sport grille chrome inserts and the roof. How in the hell do you guys wax the roof? With my crew cab I can barely reach the middle of the roof while standing in the bed of the truck. I will try to wax the roof tomorrow. I'm guessing its okay to wax the plastic chrome inserts in the grill also? What about the stock sidesteps? Rims?

As far as reaching the roof, buy a platform. Got mine at Home Depot. Much safer than a step ladder and it makes a nice bench to rest your Porter Cable, wax and favorite beverage on

I just washed/waxed my quad cab this weekend, ended up standing on my toolbox for most of the roof, got a little step ladder to reach by the front window.

I have been using a ladder but as kxlexus said, a platform is the better choice and I am planning to get one.

Just go to Homedepot.com search for work platforms.
I bought the Gorilla 20" platform. It is forty something on line but only$22 in my store

Picked one up and man what a difference.....I really like it and it works great....Got it at Canadian Tire on sale for $30 bucks......

It works awesome..... Basically the same one as the Home Depot......But wider.......

I just washed and detailed with a spray on wax today too! I usually get the roof by standing in the bed which allows me to get 3/4 of the roof, the front i stand on the side steps with the doors open and easily reach the rest. Does anyone else notice the roof flexes very easily in the center? I am almost afraid it will dimple or crease if I press too hard...
