2013 Vacation, coast to coast & back
I am about to drive from San Diego to Connecticut & then return back to San Diego, California
I plan on leaving about July 22nd or 23rd & return home about August 21st or 22nd
it will be approximately a 6,500 mile trip
This year things seem to be working against me, first my Harley registration & insurance had to be paid
Then my Rams insurance came due, $1,000,000 policy
Now i just received a notice that my Commercial drivers license is due & i have to take the 120 question written test :(
Today i took the Ram to get a tire rotation, i glanced at the brake pads & rotors, looks like the pads look good, but it will not be long before the rear rotors will need the lip ground down, the Ram has about 86,000 miles on it
The oil, oil filter, & air filter will get changed before leaving
the catch can will get emptied
I have a half ass schedule as of now
Norman Oklahoma 25th of July, for a possible Meet & Greet
Dayton Ohio 27th of July
Connecticut from July 30th to ....
Connecticut Family Reunion August 4th
August 10th Connecticut Meet & Greet
August 17th Texas Meet & greet, location pending, nothing set in stone
Home on about 20th or 21st
Canada is off of my schedule this year, too many bills & not enough work,
going to miss my friends that i visit each year around Toronto
I sure hope that nothing else pops up before i leave
Have a safe trip man! Sounds like a fun trip.
Hope you have a fun and safe trip GT and things go better on your vacation than they seem to have prior to it! :)
GTy Sounds like a great trip again. Have a safe trip!! Wasn't it just before your trip last year you had that run in with a tree on your tailgate or was that a different time? Either way keep us updated along the route when you can!
Where in Conn. is the meet & greet?
Thanks for the well wishes
The Olive tree happened less then a week after i returned home from last years trip
i also had the whole front part of my paint job replaced, because liquid asphalt ruined the paint while i was still on that trip, in a construction zone
PaulMys, the Connecticut Meet & Greet is planned for August 10th up near Hartford, a town called Wethersfield, Ct.
some of the other Ram owners will be members that you may already know from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, & New Jersey
here is the link, everyone is of course welcome
Today i went to the dealerships Service Dept.
took my own oil & oil filter with me, $18 was my total cost for the visit
while it was up in the air, they noticed a seeping PINION seal
Replaced under Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, they did the Locktite patch on the Pinion Nut
They checked the under carriage & Suspension & said that it was OK
They said that i was due for a tune up & that my fuel system needed cleaning, likely because of the duration of use, they had NO record of my spark plugs ever being changed & i know that i paid for a spark plug change 44,000 miles ago & it was at the same dealership
I had mentioned that i thought that the shock absorbers may be worn out, i still think so & i will change them after i get back from my trip
I still need to empty the Catch Can & check the air filter, i currently have the K&N oiled filter in the truck
I walked around the sales lot to see what i could without bothering the sales team
things that i noticed
there is ONE drain hole in the bed, it is dead center & tight against the front panel, mine has 2
there is about a 4' wide bottom center panel in the beds floor, all the Rams that i looked at appeared to have a good tight seem, where the center panel connected to the other panels, i could not see the parking lot through them
I noticed some of the Rams had 2 plugged holes in the floor of the bed, both of them are located about where the frame would be located, but only on the drivers side ??
One other thing that i noticed & could not figure out,
why do some Rams have the 7 & 4 trailer plug on the left side of the license plate
others have them on the right side of it ??
not a single Ram on the sales lot had the rear end ratio written on the window sticker
about 50% of the Rams had a rear view back up camera, called PARKVIEW
I looked at only 25 or 30 Rams
i did not go to look at about the same number of Rams, between the building & the I-8 Freeway
