Looking for a truck
Hello, first post. I am looking for a RUSTFREE 1970s 0r 1980s 4 wheel drive truck, I prefer a standard trans but auto would be OK, I would also prefer a 6 cyl but small V-8 would be OK as well. I have no preference of year because I like all the bodystyles.
I am looking for a keeper and if anyone knows of one avail in the Tampa or surrounding area than I would appreciate a heads up.
Not having much luck on Craigs-list and not sure where else to look so if anyone has a better suggestion that it would be appreciated as well.
Not concerned in the least with dead paint or a few dents, prefer original dead paint, I am a bodyman so I can take care of that, I do not want a rusty truck though, need something that I can get into a drive. Thanks for any help or suggestions, my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
good luck with this. i am up north and wouldn't be able to find anything rust free by me.
Just drove 45 minutes one way to look at a 91, VERY rust free, floorboards solid as when new, course the pictures on Craigslist didnt reveal that a train ran into the other side of vehicle, someone had stripped the interior and tire were showing steel. Somehow that slipped the owners mind.
All he could say was its only a thousand bucks!! Jerk!
I am looking at an 82, it has sat outside on a concrete pad for many years, it is solid as a rock bodywise, floorboards are like new. problem is that it is not 4 wheel drive.
My question, did Dodge offer a slant six 4 wheel drive standard trans truck in these early/mid eighties bodystyle?
I am considering purchasing it for the cab ect, I REALLY like the slant six, I would very much like to keep the original engine but get rid of the 904 for a standard 4 speed/ transfer case axles assy.
I have no intention of abusing the truck, I want a work truck that looks tough but I do not need to go fast.
What sort of a truck should I be looking for a driveline from? Thanks
I am also looking into a 1990 full size Dodge 4 wheel drive truck, 318 ect, auto. Supposedly the body is very solid, it is about 3 hrs away so havent made it there to look at in person.
Generally are these good strong trucks, I am guessing that this is going to have the weak 904 tranny, is that correct. How about the transfer cases/differentials, are they problematic in these trucks? Thanks again
