So there's a forum for exterior/body customization, and one for interior audio and alarms, but I'm not really sure where to talk about reupholstery and the like... so I have a 91 Ram I picked up yesterday. The whole way home, the ceiling material was dragging on my head. The carpet has ground in dirt, leaves, and cigarette burns. The seat is in remarkably good condition, I think I'm going to leave it. I was just looking for some good ideas for materials to redo the interior roof and floor with instead of cloth/carpet. The dash, doors and seat are all grey, so I was thinking a black plasti dip or some sort of rubber/vinyl. Any advice?
Welcome to headliners of the '80's and early '90's. :o Partsgeek was taking a survey on RCC a while back, of things we'd like to seem them mfg. I suggested, a headliner that DOESN'T double as a hat...
That said, your local upholstery shop is as good a place to start as any. My headliner needs re-doing as well. Something I'M interested in - with three boys and the desire to go camping, mudding, etc., is, this neat little gizmo!
You can practically HOSE your truck out with this installed!
I'm also looking at changing the cloth - nice though mine IS - to some sort of faux leather (I'm not putting REAL leather in a 'wheeler!!!), that's easy to clean up, but also has those tiny holes in it, so it breathes well in summer heat. Haven't shopped around for any of that yet, though.
1/8" Vinyl... and not a bad price. I definitely want one. Thanks.
