Want to get rid of my egr valve
HEY YA'LL, I'M AROD AND I I OWN A 1994 DODGE RAM 5.2 L 318 MAGNUM SLT LONG BED 2WD. I LIVE HERE IN MOUNT HOLLY, NC WHICH IS ABOUT 10 MILES OUTSIDE OF CHARLOTTE,NC. HERE IN GASTON COUNTY A 1994 YEAR VEHICLE ONLY HAS A SAFETY INSPECTION. I BOUGHT A SET OF PACESETTER HEADERS AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE A SPOT FOR THE EGR TUBE TO BE BOLTED TO THEM LIKE THE STOCK MANIFOLD DID. I'M WONDERING IF I TAKE OFF THE EGR VALVE DO I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO THE WIRING TO THE EGR SO THAT THE TRUCK DOESN'T NOTICE IT'S GONE. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANK YA'LL AND GOD BLESS! AROD :box2:

Can't really mod the wiring to fool the computer, but it'll run without it. The only real issue is the fact that while the EGR is for emissions purposes, the computer programming is set uo with a functioning EGR in mind. Recirculating exhaust gases reduces NOx emissions by reducing combustion temperatures. Knowing that, you must consider that by eliminating the EGR, you increase those temperatures. While this will increase power, you will experience spark knock since the computer ignition curve thinks there's gonna be an EGR reducing the combustion temps. Bottom line, you will probably have to bump up your minimum octane to eliminate the knock.
