Front Spring Rate effects

91 D-150 2WD 318 - I'm ordering some Monroe Magnum shocks for the front, and looking to get some springs to go with them, because one of the springs is broken. I'm probably looking at the MOOG's 7170 or 7172. I don't think I need the 7172S Super Duty because it's just a 2WD, so no off-road or big towing for me. The 7170 says the spring rate is 845 and the 7172 says the spring rate is 1043. I know nothing of spring rates, so I'm here to ask what effect they have on the ride? My neighborhood has loads of speed bumps, both the big round kind and the small squarish ones, and I'd rather not be bouncing all over the place when going over them.

Well, no answers, so I'll at least update, I got some Kayaba Gas-A-Just shocks and the 7172's, just waiting for a day off from work to put them on.

I would like more info before I'd make a suggestion. Like what engine do you have. If it is a 6cly, 318,360 maybe the lighter would give you a softer ride and the shocks are a great choice. If some has slipped a td in there then it would be a whole different story.
