2012 RAM - Tire Pressure Monitoring System
I don't know if this goes here, or under Towing, or if there is a separate thread for TPMS discussion.
At any rate, I would like to know if it is possible to increase the number of tires monitored by the RAM system so that it would monitor the four tires on my fifth wheel trailer as well as the ones on the truck. Has anyone inquired about this possibility?

An interesting question and a great idea if possible. My guess is the EVIC will only recognize 4 wheels, but I do not know for sure, so I will be watching for replies as well.

davidgcet 07-25-2013 11:30 AM is but one of many options i found with google. i can't find anything about one integrating with the factory system though.

Davidgcet, Yes I tried Google also. It just seems rediculous to have to have two different systems.

EVIC can monitor 6 tires (think dually) .....but you got 8 in your situation, so you will have to go with an aftermarket system.

oem evic not up to more tires than a ram can come with. seems the engineers missed that our trucks are often used for towing.

I think that the trailer tires would be too far from the truck receiver to get the tire pressure signal.

The sensors are located near each tire and would not be able to pick up the tires on the trailer or fifth wheel. Your best bet would be to get an after market product that you could install under a seat with either an audio or visual warning near the driver.

Here is a series of kits that might suit your needs and you can only have it with you when your towing, then leave it with your 5th wheel when not in use

Thanks to all of you for responding. I guess I'm going to have to start looking at TPMS systems which can handle more than 4 tires, and different vehicles.
