Still on the job search....

Well, my search is taking me to Denver next week. Great thing is we might be able to afford to live there. If not, Virginia is still on the table. Still haven't figured out the move. I know I will trailer the 98 just don't know if I want to pull it with my 04 or use the uhaul. What do you guys think? Is the 4.7 gonna strain too much on a 1000 mile trip?

Good luck on your job search and move. A little more information would help answer your question such as 98. What are you referring to and what is the weight? You ask if the 4.7 is gonna strain but your info indicates a 5.2L, am I missing something here? Otherwise I would suggest looking on the door sticker of your proposed towing vehicle, which will give you the tow capacity. Then find out the weight of the trailer and load you plan on towing. If the total towing weight is less than the tow capacity, technically you are good to go but whether you will struggle depends on how much less (keep in mind there are some significant mountains around Denver). If at or more I would say no, don't do it. When you identify your tow capacity, subtract from that, all passengers, gear and drivers weight over 150 pounds. Since mountains are involved I typically like a 20% cushion.

 it's the '98 1500 2wd he's giving to his son because he broke the fuel pump and doesn't want to fix it, so he bought the new truck.

Lol! I didn't break the fuel pump! And with 3 kids, the regular cab was a bit tight.
Yes, I plan on towing the 98. I was just wondering if I should use the 04 to do it. I wouldn't even question if had a hemi, but it don't, so I'm thinking in the event of a cross country move maybe if we use a uhaul it might be better to just pull a trailer with it.

That splains it, thanks!
