Ram Truck Web Site
When do you think Dodge will update their website to allow you to build and price a 2014 Ram 1500 (Sport)?
I want to order one but my dealer can't really comment on the details of packages, etc.

I can't comment on the Ram website, but in terms of the packages and stuff... the individual salespeople might not know, but their computer system does! Before I ordered mine I sat there at the computer with them and they were able to click on the available packages and print out details of each one. I went home with a printout with the contents of each option group and sat on it for a couple of days before I went back and placed my order. They were pretty close to what the build and price shows for the 2013s, but not exactly the same.

Then your "dealer" is an idiot...COUNT is exactly right...I and any number of other people in here ordered "at the dealer"..after doing DD online using 13 talk to the sales mgr...the dealers computer has been accessing 14 model info since sometime in June...the salesmen dont want you to build one, they dont get a piece of it...they want you to order from existing inventory....go see the sales mgr, and relax...

When you talked to him what he may have mint to say is he did not know what was in the packages. Mine didnt either when I ordered

One more time
The BUILD YOUR OWN website does NOT have anything to do with building a RAM, it is not at all like you FACTORY ORDERING a new Ram

they use that wording as a gimmick
they have you fill out all those pages & options & then they have you give them your ZIP CODE #
as you noticed, there are several packages that you have personally seen or read about that are available

all that paperwork that you filled out online is just compared to what is in the dealerships current inventories around your zip code

GT is right....I started the process by stopping off at the nearest dealer and getting a copy of the 2013 "book"....without the last few pages explaining what the various trim levels contain, and the pertinent available packages, i wouldve had a really hard time putting it all together. Its a scribbled mess by now...The Consumers Reports $14 cheat sheet is an invaluable tool, but at the time I got it, they didnt have 2014's in it yet...i bet they still i went armed with as much knowledge as i could re 2013 invoice pricing and packages. It worked out, im satisfied...the package changes were minor, and i was prepared to accept a price increase.....but you GOTTA do yer homework...good luck....

who says sales reps don't get a cut of ordering a new truck.

Yankee 07-29-2013 07:43 AM

I do....because thats exactly what the sales mgr told me...they have nothing to do with that nationwide, or everywhere?? i have no idea...all i know is that noplace i called or actually went to did the salesmen have anything to do with it other than call the truck sales mgr for i care??? not in the least....

When I first went in to my dealer I test drove a 2013 with a sales guy. When I worked with the sales manager to order my 2014 he did indicate that salesperson on the order. But I could certainly see if you didn't deal with a salesperson at all that they would leave that blank.

Yankee 07-29-2013 08:25 AM

I called 3 dealerships within about a 90 mile radius of me...In each and every case once i indicated I wanted to order/build one, i was told i had to speak to the sales mgr. Once by the receptioist, twice by salesmen themselves....I went to all 3 , one guy told me I had to speak to the sales mgr, and he wasnt in.....the second gave me the keys and told me to go have fun....and "the sales mgr will see you when you get back"...he wanted $500 over invoice..after spending awhile building the thing....bye Charlie......the last one, and fortunately the local dealership and closest to me, did a more reasonable deal (satisfactory enough for me to stop the search anyway), the salesman there asked me if i wanted to drive one, was there something on the lot etc etc...i said no, i l know what i want, and its a 14....his name wasnt anyplace...i dont even know who he is, other than I recognize him when i stop the sales mgr, Ive got his cell......and he was quite specific about this subject....I made some off handed comment about how the salesmen wont even look up when i walk in...and he said, "well, they better, but they dont get anything out of this.....".....
