1998 dodge ram ?

Looking at a 98 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Laramie quad cab 4x4 that has 92,000 miles on it. Looking for something to be a daily driver and a hunting rig. Any issues good or bad with this truck this year?

They are known to get mange. Seriously the paint is known to just peel off. Besides that they are pretty solid.

Keep in mind that reguardless of the miles its a 15 year old truck and will most likely need some work.

battlerattle gave you some good advice. If I may add to it, I know two guys with similar trucks. (One a '98 and one a '97.) They both have the 5.9 (360cid) V-8 magnum. Great engines, but back then gasoline was under $2 a gallon. With todays prices, it will be a pretty penny to keep the gas gauge off of "E". Not that the new RAMs are like economy cars, but just something to keep in mind.

I know a couple guys that have 318 with manual 5 speeds, they get decent mileage, about like a hemi. Like all trucks that age, gotta look for rust, Rams are as good as it gets, imho, but in Maine, so much salt, calcium chloride and who knows what else gets blasted on our vehicles, makes you want to cry.

Yep for battlegrave

Oops, should be battlerattle...............

I have a 98 Ram 1500 SLT 4X4 with the mange (hood and roof clear coat gone). 224,000 on the truck, 130,000 on motor and tranny. New ball joints, Pittman arm and toughest truck I've ever owned. It hauls hay wagons, and in it's day calves to market with it's gooseneck ball in the bed. It still works my farm today.

It's 10 mpg local and 15 interstate (rare) I have a couple of diesels. You want Ram Tough, get a 5.9L 98 SLT V8.
