Bfg at/ko 285/65/20
So, I just went to Discount Tire to order the above for my hopefully soon to be shipping 2013 Ram 1500. At 34.7" x 11."7 that seems like just about the perfect size for the factory 20" wheels on a leveled 1500.

But, no joy in Mudville...

Was told "special order", then, uh-oh, make that "back ordered special order". My guy called the mfg rep and he had no estimated time of arrival for them.

He was willing to order them for me. But, without knowing when/how long it would take, I declined. Besides just getting them in the first place, I have been known to shred a sidewall now and then, I'm money well ahead lifetime on tire certs. Would be a super PITA to ruin one and not even be able to it replaced for a week or two if the replacement had to be special ordered too.

Anyway, just thought I'd share, since this really does seem like the "just right" size for factory 20's and a leveling kit. Be nice if they were more available and there were more than just BFG AT's and Goodyear MT/R's to choose from.

I've actually been wishing for a "skinny" 35 for a long time. Would run a 35 x 11 on my Jeep if such a beast existed (I know, I know, but I want tires that are ROUND so Swampers don't count...).

I ran those same sizes on my leveled Mega Cab ... loved it and you are right they are not really wide looking for that size but have all the same other good properties. White Letters&partnum=865SR0ATAKORWL&tab=Sizes

Copy and paste the whole link above and see that Tire Rack has availability of 8/16.

8/16 is only about two weeks... Since my truck hasn't even shipped yet, it probably won't be here any sooner than that.

Tempted. The whole replacement thing has me kind of bugged though. I really do destroy a tire once in awhile, if one of these got shredded by a rock and it ended up taking a week or two to get it replaced that could be a major problem.

I ran the same tires out in California high desert and was on some nasty rocks. Never threw a lug (unfortunately my dirt bike suffered some losses) but was very pleased with my experience on them.

the guy in the minivan behind me was not happy with me sharing my trail residue with him from the lane ahead.

I totally understand about wanting what you want. but if availability is an issue why not go with 275/65/20? They aren't much narrower and they are widely available.

Prolly exactly what I'll end up doing. Every tire store within a 100 miles has those in stock.

Toyo AT2 has a 295x65x20 35" at 11.8..?

Yeah, I looked at those and mostly liked what I see.

Two reasons I decided not to go with them.

One, I'm not sure they won't rub on the factory Longhorn 20's - and 1/4" spacers are a no-go for me, not legal here and I wouldn't run them even if they were.

And two, the tire store I have used for 30 years, who know me well and treat me like gold, quit selling Toyo's a couple of years ago. In fact, a lot of the tire stores around here quit selling them.

Les Schwab has them, they always charge too much for everything, but I'd go ahead and buy them there anyway though, if I knew they wouldn't rub.

Just chose a set of the 275/65-20 BFGs and am completely happy with them

Not thrilled about the total price but I sold my HPs and used that for a third of the new costs.

Mostly likely exactly what I'll end up with too. Black side out though, just personal taste - don't like white letters out.

They are expensive little buggers though aren't they? Giving me $400 for my factory crappers, so with road hazzard certs, tax, etc., etc., yadda-yadda I'm looking at about $1200 out the door for four of them. Could get the Falken Wild Peaks out the door for about $700.
