Key Fob Question

Just got my Ram a couple of months ago. I was just wondering if they Key Fobs ever run out of battery and leave you locked out in the middle of a parking lot. Can you change the batteries in it, or do you have to buy new ones?
Thanks

I am at close to 5 years with my FOB & battery

you can replace the battery in the FOB

slide the lock on the FOB to release the VALET KEY on the big end of the FOB
pull the valet key about 2/3 of the way out, now turn the valet key, it will pop open the FOB & expose the battery,
just for info, under the battery is the Micro Chip that makes the FOB work

I keep an extra battery for it in my glove box, just in case. But the battery should last a very long time anyhow.

I have had vehicles a long time as well and not had to replace a battery in the FOB. Although my has had to replace the battery it seems every year or two. Perhaps because she is in an out of her car multiple times during the day to do her job.

One of mine needed to be replaced after two years.

On my 2012, I can unlock the drivers door with the key in the FOB.

But yes, you can change the battery.

Truck will start with low/no battery in key fob. The ignition switch recognizes the chip in the end of the key fob.
I washed my key fob, took it to dealer and asked, very common boo boo. They took battery out and started truck to show me. They had a hair dyer just for this .
