Grinding noise

I have a 1988 dodge ram and when I drive over doors bumps or potholes, it sounds as though something is grinding or rubbing together. I have looked underneath and can't find anything. I've replaced the sway bar bushings so I know it's not that. Any help is appreciated

Sounds like whatever is causing it is happening when you bottom out the suspension, or at least hit a good enough bump to cause it to nearly bottom out. My first suspicion would be that the wheel is rubbing on something. What shape are your stop bumpers in? If they're in bad shape, maybe the control arms are moving up far enough to let the tire rub.

Does it sound like a harsh grinding, or more like something rubbing?

It's a harsh grinding, I had my tires run before but I lifted my truck 3in and that solved the problem. My bumpers in fairly good shape except the plastic moldings are pretty loose
