8 speed vs. 6 speed fuel economy?

Been quite some time since I posted on here, I am now seriously looking at 2013 sports, I will have to pick off the lot at this point and want to know some real world HAND CALCULATED fuel economy (hemi's) from people who have the 8 speed and 6 speed trannys, please state whether it was hwy, city, what gearing you have etc.

If and when I buy it will be a sport quad cab 4x4 hemi hopefully with 3.92's.

Coworkers: 2011 4x4 crew, 6 speed, city ave, 14-15mpg
Mine: 2013 4x4 crew, 8 speed, 3.21's, city ave, 16-17mpg

Thanks guys! From what I have been reading there must be some noticeable difference in mileage between the trannys. Right now with my 04 hemi I get 15.5 mpg IMP (13 mpg in US gallons) in the city at the high end and if I am lucky I get 18 mpg IMP ( 15 mpg hwy) at the high end not driving like an arshole. I am hoping that a 2013 even with the 6 speed will be about 3 mpg better in the city and on the hwy, Right now I fill up once a week (120 dollar fill ups)

I guess I will know next week. I just bought a 13 longhorn iwth an 8 speed and 4 corner air. I am flying to pick it up on Friday, and driving it back home on Tuesday. 3.92 ' s in the rear end, and a 1200 mile trip.. I will report back when I get home.

I made the trip from Toronto to Newfoundland. I averaged 90-125 km/hr. The average fuel economy was 12.5l/100km. I did stop overnight and did some in town driving. I put on approximately 50 km in town driving..

I did a 113km trip today at 60-80 km/hr and averaged 11.3l/100km. That's calculated. EVIC showed 11.5.

2013 Ram QC 1500 6 speed 3.55

Got 2 receipts on my hand from a trip I took this weekend. 1st fill up was before I got going, city driving, 16mpg. 2nd fill up was after I got back, all highway, 19.4 mpg (hand calc). The whole trip I had a head wind, so I could had a little better highway mpg maybe. EVIC just turned 19.0 as I got home.

Just for info. Chrysler said that the ZF 8 speed is 20% more efficient than the old 5/6 speed tranny.

Yes, I do agree on initial get up to speed, in city driving the 8Speed tranny will benefit, but as far as highway, the final gear in both tranny's are still a 0.67. But I just love that 1st gear of 4.71 in those ZF8speeds! I bet that 3.92 or even 3.55 is a completely different launch all together.
