Electric cut outs?

Look at getting electric cut outs with the next week. Right now my exhaust/motor is stock. How loud will cut outs make my truck with a single one place right after the y pipe before the muffler? I'm looking at making my truck as loud as possible when i want but stock when i want to. What can i do to make my truck as loud as possible? Where will the cut out be loudest?

If you have a y pipe and you are going with a single cutout , your only option will be right after the Y. That's where I have mine but I am running no cuts so mine will prolly be a little louder

It will be very loud. louder will be dual cutouts before the cats.

There may or may not be space in front of the cats. I haven't looked under a 4th gen but I know on a 3rd gen there is no room in front of the cats. I have dual cutouts just after where my cats would be (if I had any) before my mufflers and when they are open my truck is ridiculously loud.

As said above if you are only getting one than the loudest place to put it would be right after the y pipe.

if you put a cutout right after the Y..with your stock exhaust, it will sound obnoxious :) that's why i think a cutout with a stock setup is best...very stealthy and then roars when you want it..

Fred, not to thread jack here, but what do you use to clean your cutouts? And do you remove them to clean them or just clean them from underneath the truck?

I clean from underneath..hehe..wirewheel on my drill :) ...can you tell there is over 100k miles on them?

a funny story a few years back...I was making a left turn and was next to a chevy truck with a louder exhaust...just as the light turned green I opened the cutouts and gave it a good stab and roared as i was making the turn..only to be terrified because there was a cop writing a ticket to someone on the street I was turning on to. I immediately hit the close switch on the cutouts just as the cop started looking up to see which car made that noise...I went by whisper quiet (as a 22" maggie goes) and the cop only stared at the chevy truck with the loud exhaust...:str:

Thanks Fred!

And that's a pretty funny story. Now I'm going to have to pay attention for something like that!
