Replacing stock res radio

Thinking about replacing my stock res radio with an Alpine INE-S920 HD nav radio. Anyone do this or have this radio. Any comments or advice is always appreciated .

Have you searched for posts regarding radio replacement yet? I only ask because Dodge stereos are 1.5(ish) DIN. Your Alpine is a double DIN which means there will be some fit issues which will require you to alter your dash a bit.

I am aware of the mod to the sub dash and was thinking of getting radio from Crutchfield, they include all parts necessary and a wiring harness with purchase..

Yeah, they're great to work with. Personally, I was a little squeamish about cutting the sub dash, so I just bought and installed an RBZ radio instead.

Good luck with your install!

Hi 11silver,

I put a INE-S920HD in my 2011 Bighorn. I used a metra mounting kit for the dash trim, and used a dremel to cut the bottom piece of plastic sub-dash. It cut out like butter, and took about 15 minutes. I also made two small slices in the metal frame inside, so I could bend the metal back a little bit. At first I was scared to be carving out my truck, but I took the plunge and it turned out to be easy.

It will look something like this (Radio I put in is a Pioneer) with the metra trim kit. Trimming the dash isn't that bad. A Dremel is a wonderful tool to use.
