C-Notch a 4th gen

Anyone done this?

I read somewhere that once you get close to 6 in the rear you start running into trouble with the control arms bottoming out als so some custom work comes into play here also.

Realistically, how much work would it take to get a full 7 in in the rear? When tax time rolls around I want to something like this with my truck. Spindles will be up front also.

Possibly bags might come into play in the rear?

Let me hear some great ideas from you guys! I don't have experience when it comes to making stuff like this work. Let alone be reliable and comfortable.

This is the only reason I hate my truck. If ya wanna go low, it ain't easy....or cheap.

Looking at my truck I would need a notch where the control arm is and another where the axle is to be able to reach 7''. You would probably be better off doing a notch where the axle is and getting a custom 4 link that runs inside the frame to eliminate that clearance issue. You would really need adjustable control arms anyway for 7''. I haven't checked, but clearance inside the wheel well might be an issue with that kind of a drop.

I figured I could go with spoon adj arms, and make some new mounting points, if they would be able to adj to where I'd need them anyway. And I could always run a shorter tire too, and hope my 338s will clear the fender lips, they're +14 offset IIRC.

Or I could just hack up my Silverado but I'd rather not since I use that for the river. But damn it'd be a lot easier. Spindles springs, flip kit and bolt in c-notch and I'm good to go. And the ram only has 10k on it and I can't say for sure I'd keep for awhile, so that could hurt come trade in Time.

Decisions decisions....

I'm gonna notch mine, I want to lower the mounting points for the trailing arms to get the closer to level.....some sort of bracket welded to bottom of the axle is the initial plan

Sounds similar to my plans, if i ever decided to go thru with it that is.

Keep us updated!!!

SilverSurfer on that forum did a custom 5-7 drop and C-Notched his rear frame, the rear fenders have to be rolled to get the tires to tuck a little, if you want to lay frame a lot more needs to be done.

shawnu 09-01-2013 10:13 PM

Im not looking to lay frame or nothing, just something like you said, a 5-7.

But ive pretty much scraped the idea unless i keep it till its paid off, a 5/7 would be sweeeeet!!

That bagged one is beautiful.
