2014 orders & the start of NFL season

As I start my 4th week in "final inspection" I have to wonder why Ram is delaying in shipping my 2014 and the orders of others on this list too.
My theory is that given the wild success of the 2013 model year that Ram wants to kick off the 2014 model year with a Big Bang and it will coincide with the start of the NFL season in early September!
To do so they have to ensure that all the dealers in the country have at least one 2014 truck in inventory. I know that in my area all of the large volume dealers already have a few 2014's in inventory. But, most of the smaller dealers have yet to see one.
To me it is apparent that the Ram marketing plan for 2014 includes stocking all dealers with at least one 2014 Ram truck before early September. And that they intend to do so at the expense of the relatively few of us who have already ordered a 2014 truck. We are not a priority to them. Dealer inventory is the priority!

I can't find current numbers, but Chrysler closed about 800 (25%) of their dealers in 2009 as the auto industry melted down. That would leave somewhere around 2400 dealers in the US as a rough guess. Note not all of these will sell Rams, but we will stick with that as a guess - so it is probably on the high side.

I am also not positive of Warren Truck's exact numbers, but I know that Wayne Assembly does 600 F-150s per shift and I would estimate Warren truck is roughly similar.

That means that Chrysler could build one Ram for each dealer in less than two days.

The other thing is, Chrysler wants their cash and so does your dealer. No manufacturer wants to pay to have your truck sit on their lot longer and pay the carrying costs.

Most likely your truck is coded wrong in the system you see or waiting for some off-line option/rework/repair. Could be as simple as they ran out of the right color sun visor so they will install it offline when parts are available.

I think all dealers now sell all brands. I don't know any off the top of my head that doesn't in this area (and there are a lot of dealers around here...).

No comment on the Warren numbers but do remember some 1500's are being built in Saltillo.

Around me, the dealers are pretty much brand specific. And yes, the regular cab trucks are Mexico-built.
