when should i do tire rotation?
hey Guys . according to the manual a tire rotation on my truck should be 13,000KM 9000 Miles. im at 13,000 Kilometers . should i rotate or wait more KM
when should it be done?

I do mine every 2nd oil change. That's 6,000 miles for me. When your looking at $800 minimum for a set, I wouldn't go as far as the manual. Just like oil changes. If your constant highway use, you go longer, but short trips with traffic, the store and just to ride to town, you change it sooner. Idle time is harder than cruising. That's just me.

Depends on driving habits... If I've done a few burnouts I might rotate mine every 5k or if I've done a bunch of burnouts maybe less.

Depends on how you drive. For a 4X4 look to see if your tires are cupping in the front from city driving. If so than rotate them. If you go by mileage from highway driving, 3000 to 5000 miles between rotating is good. Good tires cost big $$$.

when you get your tires rotated
ask what the rotation method is

most dealerships just move the back tires to the front & front tires to the back
the right side tires are always on the right side

that is the wrong way to do a rotation
if you do it that way, your right rear tire is your traction tire & if you were to move it to the front & the front end is slightly out of alignment
you will always wonder why you always have to replace the right side, long before the left sides are due

you have to use an X pattern with a variation

most of us have a Temporary Spare Tire, so it is never used,
that is another thing, most places never check your spare tires air pressure
my spare was down to 28 PSI, it is a good thing to check it for yourself

if your tires do NOT have a directional arrow on them
use a variation of the X pattern

Actually GTyankee the X pattern method is incorrect according to our truck manuals it says that you put the back tires up front (driver side to driver side etc.) then cross the fronts to the back (driver front to pass rear)

I think the best answer to the OP question is what ever you feel most comfortable with.
Personally I will be getting mine rotated every time I do an oil change (5K miles) due to the fact that when I bought new tires at the beginning of the year they came with lifetime free rotation....

I've always stuck with 8-10K rule on tire rotations, regardless of the tires, driving habits or whatever else.

I always do mine around 5-6000 miles.

i do mine nearly every oil change since the tire place i use does it for free for good customers. From April 1st to mid May i had my oil changed 4x and tires rotated 3x, yeah i was putting miles on the truck with trips from MS to WY/NE/IA every week for work.

On my wife's truck we rotate them every other oil change simply because she does nto think about it when dropping the truck off.
