Thinking about swapping to 33x12.50R17

I currently have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 QC with the Hemi and 20" wheels. Has anyone tried to run 33x12.50's on this model with stock suspension? My current stock tires are equivalent to a 33.1" tall and 10.7" wide tire (if I remember correctly), so I personally don't see an issue with it. If you have run 33x12.50's on stock suspension, please post pictures so I can see what it looks like. Thanks.

If you plan on using the stock wheels you will need 1/4" spacers to clear that wide of a tire. If you go with an aftermarket rim you just need to order the correct offset. Other than that you won't have any problems.

I do not know very much about offset. I have been looking at 17x9 wheels with 4.500" backspacing and a -12.00mm offset. Would that do it? What exactly should I be looking at when dealing with offset? More specifically, what is the offset referring to? Thanks

Yes, a 17x9 -12 offset will work no problem.

Offset is the distance of center that they mounting surface is in the wheel. It is directly related to backspacing. It either pushes the wheel/tire out further giving you more clearance on the inside (negative offset or less backspacing). Or tucks the wheel and tire under the truck more giving you less clearance on the inside (positive offset or more backspacing)

I'm running 20x9 -12 offset wheels with 35x12.5 Toyo MT's. My wheel/tire thread linked in my signature has lots of pictures and information about how far they stick out. Your set up will stick out about the same, your tires will just be shorter.

Those tires look really nice on that truck. Thanks for the help man

I actually seen a guy in a 2003-2005 Ram 1500 out in the parking lot at work with 33x13.50R20 on stock suspension...on stock wheels. I am willing to bet they rub everytime he turns the wheels, I haven't had a chance to get with him and check it out yet. I imagine having that wide of a tire there is not enough spacers or offset that could prevent the tires from rubbing.

I dont know what the size of 305/60/20 are equivalent to but I ran these BFG AT for a few years on my stock 20's. I didnt have any rubbing issues at all. Although I wasnt happy that the tires tread wore out faster than the Nitto terras that Im running now.

My truck is an 05' 1500 with 33x12.5 but my rims are 18". I havent any rubbing or anything. If you did want a 35" tire all the ram needs is a leveling kit!
