Disconnect battery for CAI install?
I've just ordered an Airaid CAI for my 2013 Ram 1500. Excited to install it.
The install instructions say you need to disconnect the neg battery connection.
Is that necessary? Will it screw up any of the settings?
i've never disconnected my battery for anything over the years, but if you're at all worried about shorting something it definitely can't hurt.
perhaps it's to reset the brain, but i doubt it....
Burlington eh? have lived there a few times :)
The idea behind disconnecting the battery is to reset the computer of the truck. Since the new CAI will flow different than the stock set up the computer needs to "re-learn" the parameters of the truck. It will learn it overtime without disconnecting the battery, disconnecting it just speeds up the process. I'd recommend doing it.
Yes, disconnect the battery. I just did it on my 13 RAM Express and it made quite a difference. Sounds better and much better throttle response. Puts you right back in the seat when you jump on it. I have jsut 6K miles now and am very happy. Next looking to change muffler and get a tuner (Diablo or BullyDog). Ait Temp sensor can get fouled up.
