Problem with my Ram

Hey guys Im new to this site to see if I can find some advice on what might be the problem with my truck. I was driving my truck one day and the truck randomly died on me and would not start up for about 5 minutes, so I figured that if I change the fuel pump that would solve the problem. After I changed the fuel pump the truck stopped dying on me, but the truck is now bogging, and back firing through the intake, and out the exhaust. I have changed the spark plugs, wires O2 sensors, and punched the cat, and nothing is working to fix this problem. I drive a 1998 Ram 1500 5.2L RWD, and I am hoping that someone here has the answer for me to fix this problem, please comment or private message me what you think and reasons that it would cause this problem Thanks alot.:smiley_thumbs_up:

2nd gen rams are good for fuel pump issues. bc of the collapsible pump. could maybe just be fuel pump again

Problem with my Ram

I was thinking that as well because were the sock is on the pump its located on the bottom of the pump so I was thinking maybe the pump is sitting on the bottom of the tank and not letting fuel pump up, could that be possible ?

could also be stuck at the top and extending/retracting back down to the bottom. the fuel pump is retractable like the little kid light swords lol. might be getting stuck

does it happen with a full tank of gas?

I havent tried it with a full tank of gas, because if it still does it thats gonna be a b*tch to change the pump, i have a new one on order and im going to try that first off

Not sure if this would be a similar issue or not but I had a 97 dodge ram SS/T , that did the same thing outa the blue in 2006 , found out it was bad fuel , dealer emptied the gas tank and we refilled with premium and never had a issue again , when it happen I changed pump , battery , spark plugs ect. to no avail finally went to dealership and tada changed the gas out and no issues after that

Problem with my Ram

really, never thought, that would cause it to back fire and all this sh*t to happen. maybe ill empty the tank into a jerry can and go grab some new stuff and try that out, im getting a new pump tomorrow because Ive heard from some people now including on this site that there was a bad batch of pump made awhile ago and the garage i heard this from had the same problem when they were installing them, and during the time it was happening to them they switched their supplier and they never had the problem again. Thanks alot guys hopefully both these suggestions fix this problem will repost tomorrow and let you know if it works.

Try checking your crankshaft position sensor had same issue with the 95 dodge ram i had would suddenly stall truck and or back fire found out the sensor was just giving a faulty signal replaced and it went back to normal
