Buying 2013 Ram in Canada
Hello everyone this is my first post on the forum. I am looking for a new truck and am pretty sure it is going to be a Ram. I test drove a laramie yesterday and kind of fell in love. My last truck was an 08 2500 Cummins and from a comfort/interior/driveability standpoint these two machines are in different leagues. I liked the 08 but I don't need to pull much anymore so this time around I am looking for a half ton.

My question(s) revolve around when to buy. I would like to get in on model year end deals but don't want to wait too long and not be able to get what I want. Right now in Canada they are offering about $9K in factory cash and about 3.9% financing basically forever lol. Does anyone know if the deals on 13's are going to get any better before the 14's start showing up? Also does anybody have any idea roughly how much more a dealer will move on the window sticker price in addition to the factory incentives? I have no trade in BTW. Also am I going to pay a lot more if I wait for 2014's. I am not in a panic to buy anything but would like to get one before the snow flies.

I am looking for something along the lines of this with options, (not real picky on options but the list is what I consider must have);

Sport or Laramie or Longhorn
4X4 Crew Cab SWB
8 speed Hemi (gas is expensive up here and although I thought the shifter would be goofy I didn't mind it at all)

Leather buckets
Keyless entry/start
Alpine stereo (wasn't horribly impressed with the one I drove yesterday but it sounded a lot better than my 08)
Back up camera

One more question, what is the deal with 2013 Longhorns up here? None of my 3 closest dealers have any in stock. Is it because of demand or supply or is it just because I live in the middle of nowhere or is it something else?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

good luck finding a truck with what you want! I am looking for a similar truck and have decided im getting a 14 as there seems to be nothing out there with what I want in a truck.

Actually the Laramie I drove yesterday had pretty much everything I want and a bit more. The only problem is that is a black gold pearl coat. I swore I would never buy a black vehicle again. Although this one was so dusty I am not really sure what 'black gold pearl' really looks like.

Buy ASAP if you want one this year.
Just upgraded from a 2010 to a 2013 last week both Laramies. I always change in August. That's when the dealers are trying the hardest to move the previous years model and when i get the best deal. Not sure if your going to find anymore 2013's for much longer.

I know Team Chrysler in Mississauga (Mavis and 401) has at least 4 2013 Laramies left, just went there today, but they are all 6 speed tranies. I think I got the last 8 speed. Ontario Chrysler also in Mississauga (Dixie and 401) had quite a few last week but I'm not sure about now.

As to the 1500 Longhorns, those babies went fast. Can't tell the last time I saw a 2013 on the lot. Gorgeous trucks though, the leather in them,,,, yumm!

I'm loving the 8 speed so far. Very short shifts. and after the break-in period, very smooth. Down shifts quickly as well, quite a bit of engine compression.

Only issue has been with the intigrated trailer brake controller. Still haven't sorted it out yet. Actually posted the problem here today.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should jump on this Laramie. There are quite a few around here yet but not many with the 8 spd.

I am in SK btw so Missasauga is a bit out of the way to go for a truck. :)

Lol. Sorry I could have sworn I saw ON somewhere in there. I doubt that 2013 deals are going to get any better. You kind of have to watch your dealer inventories. If you see more and more 2014s coming in its time to move on it.

I am sure your dealer can check the stock of other dealerships to see what they have.

I feel your pain i just recently purchased a 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Sport and had a hell of a time finding one with everything i wanted.

My first most important feature was to get the 6 speed with 3:92 gears because i have an 8000 lbs RV that i pull and the 8 Speeds are not capable of pulling this much weight.

Dealer tried to convience me to wait for a 2014 Ram but when i did some homework on the issue i funf that Dodge may be discontinuing the 3:92 gears in the 1500 series trucks they want the market to start purchasing the bigger trucks inorder to haul more weight.

I live in Milton and my dealer was sourcing trucks in Sudbury luckily i got mine from a Guelph ontario dealer who sepecial orders all there trucks with 3:92 gears

I got a coporate discount on my 13 outdoorsman QC 4x4 8sp 5.7 all in before trade in and extended warranty from sticker I saved 15K off the $47 460 sticker price but you canget that too just by standing your ground with them.

Im not sure what part of the country your in (opps i see your in Sasky), well, if your near Calgary, id go see Darcy at Big 4 motors in Calgary, That's who i bought my '13 Sport from. He will be sure to get you into what your looking for and at a fair price. Also the customer service is very good there and Darcy will go the extra mile to ensure your a satisfied customer.
