What radar detector do you use?

Ok so right now I have the all new Passport Escort MAX. Im in a delima of if I want to keep it or not. I Have had a few other escort products including 8500, 8500 x50, IQ, and the 9500ix. Honestly the 8500 x50 impressed me the most. I really feel like the MAX isn't as strong as they make it out to be esspecaly for $600.

I bought it because I wanted the increase range and the GPS lock ability along with the very nice display. Now Im thinking about sending it back. After having it for a few days I started thinking it wasn't all it was cracked up to be and they morning is what really threw me over when KA reading didn't pop up until .4 miles of the cop being ahead. I wasn't speeding so no big deal but still thats weak. He was just sitting in the middle of the road with the radar constantly on. I even made a another pass to make sure.

So my question is asking what you guys have and why you like it? Have you had others in the past that you replaced with your current one?

Im thinking of either swapping out for the Redline which lots of people like because of range "but escort claims the MAX is better" or getting the V1 which has been around forever. "really like the arrow idea of the V1"

Any and all help will be great. Thanks

I no longer have one only because I keep an eye on my MPG. But when I did, I had a Valentine 1. IMHO the only thing better is riding with a federal judge. Reason being is the amount of information it provides, the ability to filter out annoying false alarms and high sensitivity. Once I understood how it works, I could tell exactly where the radar was coming from, what type of radar and how strong.

I have thought about running Radar,
BUT
I let others run Radar, so i don't need to
several truckers have it & they let other people know where they are hiding
I keep my CB on Channel 19 & i know where the police are sitting, most times several miles ahead, & if a police vehicle is rolling, they announce that too

Thinking about picking up a Brand new STI driver from a local Pilot fuel stations for $299 and sending it in for the Magnum update for $99. Still makes it cheaper than buying a new Magnum for $499.

I just don't think they're worth it. I have never ever ever gotten a ticket because I keep an eye out for cops, awareness is the best detector *disclaimer, don't speed, speeding is bad, I don't speed ;)

Those things give off so many false alarms and then don't always detect the type of device being used by the cops.

Additionally, they'll also probably be widespread illegal within the next few years.

Anyways, enough lecturing, just make sure whatever you get is legal in your state ;)

I still love my 9500xi, it's just nice to have the advanced warning for patrol cars when you're cruising the 3 hrs between Edmonton and Calgary. None will help you against laser, however there's generally some warning if you're paying attention.

I use an old Cobra that is about 5 or 6 years old.

I realize it's not the best on the market, but so far it's done the job for me.
I've been considering upgrading, but I'm too cheap to do so at this time.

Well I ended up getting a used Redline with a hardwire smart cord for $300. So far very happy.
