Rebuild Parts?

Hey guys. lately I have been on and off about selling my truck and using the money towards a nice track car or something but I kind of don't want to sell it. Its a 97' dodge ram 1500 with an extended cab and an 8 foot bed. Under the hood it has the 5.2l V8 magnum (obviously lol). It was my fathers and he was the original owner of the truck. Since then he has passed it down to me and he supports what ever I do with the truck 100%. As much as I would love to have a track car to share with my father so the both of us can enjoy the fun out of it. I'm thinking of just saving up the hard way for that dream car and rebuilding the truck for my own use back and forth to my campus and work everyday and gifting my nice yet uncomfortable car to my mother ( I don't fit in the car that well, i'm kind of to tall for it, lol.). I need to rebuild the engine due to it having over 100,000 miles on it. burning up oil like crazy lately. Also it just looks like it has 100,000 miles on it just by looking at it under the hood with the rust, dirt, and grime. So I am definitely going to be removing it and rebuilding it, new coat of paint, etc... etc... Basically what my question consists of is in the PARTS category. When I do go and rebuild this motor I would like to add a couple more ponies to it lol. I believe stock this specific engine is supposed to run in the 220 or 230 hp range? I would like to get it a little closer to 300 if possible. I would just like to know what you guys have used in your builds (if you rebuilt 1 of these before) or what you would use brand wise, whats reliable, what will give me the performance i'm looking for. etc... etc...Thanks in advanced, Shawn. :smiley_thumbs_up:
