Why not to trust carfax 100%
This was talked about on another thread. If buying a used car do not bet the farm on a clean car fax. Look them over yourself. Look on the bottom side, under the hood, in the bed or trunk.

This truck was rolled over.It was going to total ,so he just got a pay off from his insurance co. Then kept the truck. We fixed it for his payoff .

It will never be reported to carfax. We fixed or replaced every panel on the truck and all of the glass except 2 doors.

so just remember buyer beware. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Yea Carfax definitely doesn't know everything. Thanks for some concrete evidence. Reps

wow, carfax has made a good business making people feel safe

my Ram was also damaged, just body damage, tailgate & bumper
it will never be reported on the Carfax site
my insurance company was not involved, so there will not be any public record of the accident

Points for a very insightful post.

I happends everyday. Like I stated in the other post I had a 06 Charger that was hit 4 or 5 times plus the wife wiped it out a couple. It had more money spent on it in damages than I paid for it new. When I sold it they ran a carfax and it came out clean.

It was turned in to 3 or 4 different insurance companies. One wreck was over 9 grand.

By the way the dodge 4x4 in the photo across the street from the shop is for sale. :)

CarFax relies on people, dealers, and insurance companies to report damages to them. They actually say it in their TV commercials but very few people realize what that means. I think it can be a tool in helping the buyer BUT it has to be one of many.

carfax and other similar companies are just solely to make money and make people "feel" safe and confident in their purchase. If you have an accident or damage to your vehicle in some way, and call and ask carfax not to put it on the report, then they won't. It's just a bunch of BS that people blindly trust.

I feel like Carfax was brought to light a while back about this very thing, they use to say that they knew everything or something along those lines on the website.

Now if you watch the ads, the fox actually says, no one knows everything but Carfax is a good start.

Pretty sure Carfax got screwed at saying they knew it all and someone disproved it. Thanks for the proof though on it.

I once had a car with a salvaged title that showed up clean on CarFax. So, yes, it is better than nothing but not 100% accurate.
