My first oil change

Did my first oil change today since I bought my truck. Used royal purple 5w 30 and I can tell a huge difference in the way it runs. Btw great practical joke on the placement of the oil filter, much harder to get to than almost any other vehicle I've owned.

You can't go wrong with RP. That's what I run in my truck and I, too, can tell a difference.

I hope that was a TYPO
5w-30 may make your engine light come on
the HEMI uses 5w-20, because of the MDS

Oh crap! Good catch, Tom. I didn't catch it because I do use 5w-30 in my 4.7

Good catch, yeah the MDS may not like the 5w30 if that is indeed what the OP used.

Royal Purple IIRC was started small scale as a brainchild product in the refinieries in Benicia, CA. Absorbed by a larger corporation to handle vastly increased demand, it's becoming a standard in lubrication performance, if a bit pricey.

How would the engine light come on?

RogerRamJet 09-02-2013 12:51 AM

Because the MDS wouldn't work correctly. The computer would recognize an issue and throw a code.
