Engine swap

Has anyone put a 440 into a 1995 dodge ram sport .And where can I find info and pic's?

Is it doable? I'm sure. Is it a bolt in? Nah. You will probably need to make custom mounts, also you will need an adapter for the transmission. Big block bellhousing is a different pattern, so either an adapted small block trans or or figuring out how to use a big block trans will be necessary. You will need to bypass all computer controls and figure out how to make your gauges work (or go custom). The 9.25 should be fine; I had a 440 in an old Monaco in front of a 9.25 rear.

I've actually ridden in a '94 with the engine and trans out of a 1984 440. IMO, it wasn't really much better than a well tuned 360. Torquey yes, but it only revved 4000, and got 6mpg...

It really isn't worth it unless you have a built 440...

Someone lied to you. No such thing as a 1984 440. All big block tooling was scrapped in '79; last year for big blocks anywhere was '78. Sounds like it was a mid-late 70's smogger 440 with no work done to it.

My ram gets 8mpg now. I know its not a direct fit .I want a 440 with 727 .The 360 in it now is a dog .My 07 chevy trailblazer 4x4 with a 4.2 will kick its butt .

You're comparing an old design V8 in a heavy vehicle to a much newer, more efficient 6cyl in a lighter vehicle. That's like comparing apples to donuts. You think that 6mpg is bad now...you'll be able to watch the gas gauge physically move with a 440.

My ram weighs 3.958 and my chevy weighs 4.523 .And i'm not worried about gas mileage .I'm trying to build a custom hot rod truck .It's gonna be orion silver with viper blue stripes .If there away to make atleast 500 + hp out of this smog 360 at the same price i can out of a 440 i would .

From what I've heard, the 440 wouldn't be that much better than the 360 you have now. Sure it will have more torque but its also heaver and wont spin as fast. Plus it gets terrible fuel economy! worse than what we have now. Have you ever thought about keeping your engine and upgrading it into a 408 stroker? It will probably be cheaper in the long run and still be fun as hell!

My '90 Ramcharger 2wd weighs 5,000 lbs and with a 318 routinely snags 14.5 mpg on this gasahol crap. Now, it's smaller than a 360, but double the mileage? Sounds like a solid tune up might be in order. Even a '78 440 would make an impression. It'd still be turning 80-100lbs more torque than an anemic 360.

Where's a cheap place to get this stroker kit ?
