Gear Linkage
First let me start by saying Good Evening! I have an issue with my 2007 Dodge Ram. I pulled into the driveway and went to put it in park when the shifter linkage cable snapped under steering column. I purchased a new cable installed it and the gear selector on transmission wont shift. I need help trying to figure out why or what to try to get it right.

has anyone have any solutions yet? I am still stuck in driveway.. I don't want to tear tranny apart.

Is it on a steep slope in your driveway? Sometimes that will put a load on the Park gear and make it difficult to pull out of Park. You might try gently pushing the truck uphill (with another vehicle) to take some of the load off, which will usually then allow you to pull it out of Park.

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself... First let me ask, is it even in Park? When you turn the key to ON (without starting it), what does the PRND2L display show? Will the truck roll at all?

no its in first gear . I cant start it. I put a new cable on it and it and still would not go in park to start it. research suggest it might be the solenoid pack on the valve body. what would you suggest? I am replacing pack today.

Any luck with the new valve body? I really don't think the VB was your problem. Could you disconnect the shifter cable at the trans lever, and then shift the lever on the trans by hand? Lever all the way REARWARD is the Park position.
