DVD Head Unit
Hey guys. I just traded in my 2006 dodge charger r/t for a 2008 dodge ram 1500 5.7 laramie. I have a couple questions. I had the Kenwood DDX719 in the charger and decided to keep it to try and use in the ram. Will this work? I just purchased the bezel that is for the navigation sytem, which I'm assuming is needed being that I have the factory radio with the knobs on it in the truck now. Also, will the steering wheel controls still work when i install the DDX719? Thanks guys!

Should work no problem. You will need the bezel/install kit (which you already have) and a wiring harness. As long as you get the correct wiring harness all your steering wheel buttons should function with the Kenwood head unit. You can either check out your local audio shop (they should know exactly what harness you need and hopefully have it in stock) or google PAC harnesses and find out what one you need for your truck.

ah ok... so the harness i used in the charger wont work for the ram and no chance of wiring it without the harness eh?

It's possible the one from the Charger will work in the Ram since they were only 2 years apart. But I have a feeling your steering wheel controls won't work then...

It is possible to wiring it all up without the harness but that's honestly just a waste of your time. It's way easier and cleaner to just to it with the harness.

the harness i have now is the CHTO-013BB metra (which was used in the charger)... trying to figure out if this harness will allow use of the steering wheel controls.
