2008 factory backspacing?

Does anyone know what the backspacing is for the 17x8.5 factory wheels on a 2008 Ram 1500? I`ve looked on here as well as the internet and can`t seem to find a straight answer, one site said 4.75 and 5.5. I`ve read that the spindles are different on the 2008 and have less clearance than the 2007. I want to figure out the backspacing I need to run 33x12.5 tires on 20" wheels.

4.75" backspacing on all 17 x 8.5" rims on 1500s except the Mega Cab which used 5.75" backspacing.

Here's a backspacing to offset conversion chart to help you as well..

I believe so.. I am pretty certain the 4th gens 20's have are different, so I would think they would be too.

Yes, 5.75" on the 20s.

Ok, here`s what I don`t understand. I squeezed in my wheelwell and measured the clearance between the sidewall of the tire and the spindle and it`s approx. 3/4" and about the same between the tread and the upper ball joint. So with the factory 20" rims wouldn`t the extra inch of backspacing make the rim almost rub on the spindle. I`m looking at 20x10 rims and I just don`t get how it seems that a bigger rims and more backspacing than my 17" wheels adds up to more clearance for wider tires. Going by my math for 20x10 rims I`d need 4.5" backspacing max for a 12.5" wide tire. I just don`t want to order and get stuck with the wrong wheels.

Yeah, I think most guys run -24 offset or 4.5" backspacing for a ten inch wheel.
