Window switch backlight

I have a problem with my 2012 3500. The window switch panel that is in the driver's door is losing the backlighting for the front passenger door only. All of the other switches stay illluminated. The dealer replaced the switch and it worked for a couple of days and then the new switch panel had the exact same thing happen.

The window controls continue to work just fine, it is only the backlighting for the one switch that keeps going out.

Has anyone had this happen on their trucks? I am assuming that there must be a wiring problem of some kind but not sure what it would be that would only affect the one switch.

Any experience anyone has would be much appreciated. I am taking it to the dealer again on Wednesday to see what they can figure out.

I am wondering if its a known issue with that switch module, manufactures defect, wish I could of had the switch module that came off and take it apart see where the issue is. You might of just got unlucky and hit 2 units with the same issue, I would talk to the dealer, see what he says. hope other 2500's members can post up there info on this.

Well, I finally got it in on Monday morning. The dealership was awesome in quickly getting to work on it and actually testing all of the wiring, checking schematics and talking to me about what they were finding. The service tech came out and told me that they had found that the illumination and ground is a single input / output for the entire switch assembly. He said that he assumed that but took the time to verify it before replacing the switch assembly. While I was there, I noticed that the driver's side fender flares were a little loose and without me even having to ask, they took the truck right back in and completely removed the flares reinstalled them with new adhesive tape and then proceeded to very thoroughly wash and detail the truck as well. When I walked out the door it was at a total cost of $0. Obviously it should be with warranty items, but it seems like so many placed try and find something to charge you for.

The light switch so far appears to be good to go. I do wonder if there was a bad batch of them because I did notice when they replaced the switch the first time that the light was a little dimmer than the others and this time all of them are equally bright. Hopefully it is all good to go.

If any of you ever wind up in the Black Hills area and need a dealer, I will stand up and point you to Scott Peterson Motors. From the sale to the service on this new truck, I have been overall very impressed.

Good to here you found a great dealer, when I go to my dealer and they treat me right, the guys or gals that worked on my truck all get a nice big 20$ tip, I usually give it to the service manager and tell him its for the peeps that worked on my truck. Tell up. they remember me the next time I drop in.
