Need Help! grille insert!

Hello all, I have a 2012 ram 1500 express and i am wanted to change the look of my front end. I was looking at grilles online and they are EXPENSIVE! Some even $1,200!! Anyways I then went to ebay and searched for grille inserts and came across this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-2009-20...-/350792291183 . I can definitely do this for only $200!! This is exactly the look I want! although, I did wish it had a logo of some sort in the middle but its not that big of a deal. I do understand that its just a insert and not the whole frame. But if i order this will i be able to just replace the old grille insert and pop this one into place? I am not to sure how the process works. Any help would be awesome!! Thanks and have a good week!

Check out this video. I would expect that one you posted would be installed in the same way.

You would have to cut the cross hairs out of your current grille and if you don't want it to look weird you need to fill in the cutouts and smooth/paint it. I built my own wide mouth grille, and if you don't cut the crosshairs it looks wrong, but once cut you have 4 cutouts that can be seen behind the mesh. Now, because I'm doing a deep mouth grille I had to fiberglass and smooth it out, but with front mount overlay you can get away with not doing the fiber glass.

*edit* ^^That's a great video. Similar thing I did to my last truck

Okay sweet thanks guys!! Is the process pretty easy to my self? All i really have to do is cut out the 4 cross then bolt it on there with a drill correct?

As long as you have the right tools and skill confidence to do it it won't be too hard. You have to cut out the grille shell and then the stock inserts (because the inserts are what actually bolt to the truck, the outer shell attaches to them.) Then drill the holes for the new grille and mount that to the shell.

As Kurtis said, if you really want it to look good you will want to fill in the 4 areas where you cut out the cross hairs because if you look closely you will see that through the mesh. That's really up to you though and on how good of an end product you want.

Royalty core grills are soooo sweet looking!! But too pricey for me!
